Lake of the Ozarks

I had the pleasure of spending the weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks. A the trip to see the family. Turned into a wonderful weekend Heat and all!

A canceled flight, delays, I arrived at St Louis airport at 1:30am. I stayed in a hotel near the airport. They picked me up and off to the Ozarks we traveled.

Eleven of us in three vehicles. I rode with the 17 month old twins. We made on stop on the way down. Allowing the twins to eat and run around for approx 45 minutes.

We did a short cruise on my brothers boat and stopped at a local waterfront restaurant for a bite to eat. As we ordered cocktails I suggested we go ahead and order the twins a plate. Great Idea. Once feed they were happy we managed to keep them corralled as the adults ate, I held Cloe on my lap and Caden sat on his grandfathers. Cole enjoyed my fried sweet potatoes much more than I did. Saturday and Sunday more of the same.

Keeping two toddlers in life jackets and entertain on a moving boat was a project. We had one and sometimes two adults keeping an eye on each child at all times. Of course swimming was on the agenda. I enjoyed the kiddie pool on the back of the boat with it's one inch of water.

Monday found us back in Illinois attending the Madison County Fair. The twins loved the rides they rode and enjoyed seeing their cousin Dameon.

Toady I am sitting in the Dallas airport waiting for my return trip home.

Robert Stock Black & Tan Plaid Sport Coat 48R $79.99
In this economy many people are updating their wardrobes, to include the much more professional look, the suit.

For that interview a conservative suit is great, but once you have that all important position, you can set you own look with your watch, a bracelet, a tie, a shirt, cuff links, or even a sport coat for casual Fridays.

Comyc Gyrl
A few ideas which will not break the bank.

You already have a great pair of black slacks as part of your suit, in your wardrobe, expand your look with a vintage Robert Stock Black and Tan Plaid Sport Coat 48R this jacket looks to be silk!
Eccentric Thrifter

Add a Retro 1950's Orange Gold Brown Neck Tie Necktie with your crisp white shirt and you have a look beginning no one else will duplicate.

Bargain Express
In place of the white shirt you could use a conservative yet stylish Gray Striped BRITTANY BAY Dress Shirt its long sleeves allow for the flash of a simple cuff bracelet or Two Tone Stainless Steel and Goldtone Embassy Watch.

Cool Names for Babies $3.79

Sometimes, when I look at my children, I say to myself, 'Lillian, you should have remained a virgin..'
-   Lillian Carter (mother of Jimmy Carter)
As with anything we do, being a parent is one of the most frustrating fulfilling things you can do. From the moment of conception to graduation you second-guess yourself. When we decided to name our daughter, we chose family names. Did we second-guess this decision? Yes many times. What are the cool baby names? Thank heaves we did not go with Katrina, a name I always liked, until a certain hurricane hit the United States.

What name did you not give your child that you are thankful you did not use?

A fire in the belly

Twilights Slumber
A fire in the belly is a good way to start.

The glow of a fire will light your way. Now this Oil lamp had the Grim Reaper relaxing in wait What a conversation piece when placed on a table as part of a center piece. Will he tell tales or just keep an eye. What ever you do if he starts to stand. Pay attention.

Hazel's HodgePodge

Perhaps to balance the table you need a guardian angel. Does she guard and keep the reaper in repose? Or just remind you of blessings your granted throughout the day. Light the candle behind her and watch as she glows.

Comycgyrl Collectibles

On a cooler tone what have I found but Fire King Milk glass Pot. For that fiery touch, inset a red hot chili plant inside. Placed on your table it will keep you warmed, and great for adding that spice to you dishes!

You notice the theme I have begun.

Smoking Head Whimsy

Thinking of fire what have I missed, of course the Wanna See Smoke Coming Out Of My Ears as my brain is steaming along. A collectible show piece for most, practical for those who still smoke.

A Good Marriage is Forever

In June of 2010 my husband and I were invited to a very special event. Very good friends of ours requested, we be the only guests, when they renewed their vows for their 60th anniversary. They were repeating their marriage vows in front of a local priest on Sanibel Beach. Now, this was not something I wanted to miss. 60 years and they still treat each other as they are on a honeymoon! She carried a rosary her daughter made, and a single flower. As we stood on the board walk their sons and daughter showed up. I had tears in my eyes as I watched them repeat their vows.

They just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. In a day and age, when a couple making it to their 25th anniversary is very rare.

My observations.
  • They still hold hands whenever they can.
  • Offer to do things for each other.
  • The say thank you and mean it.
  • They discuss life, news, and current event with each other.
  • They are each other’s best friends.
  • To see them you would think they are still dating.

Kamasutra by Wendy Doniger, Sudhir Kakar $3.49
When was the last time you said, "I love you" for no reason?
Treated your spouse to a movie at home, cuddling on the sofa, like you were in the back of the movie theatre?
Forgetting the little things, I believe causes the downfall of your marriage.
The greatest gift you can give each other is treating each other as though you are still on your honeymoon.

The best advise I can give: "Your honeymoon ends when you want it to. It is not a trip it is a state of marriage." Renew your vows with one another, begin today as you are on a honeymoon and never let it end.
